Egidio is president and a founding member of Casa Portuguesa. He is currently the Vice President-Finance of Genome Canada. He joined Genome Canada in February 2002. He is a chartered accountant with over 14 years experience providing a wide range of business, finance, strategic and accounting advice to many new technology organizations. Prior to joining Genome Canada, Egidio was the CFO of two hi-tech start-ups and also held various positions at KPMG LLP, most recently as Senior Manager of New and Emerging Businesses. During his tenure with KPMG, Egidio also lectured, over a four year period, at the University of Ottawa. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa and a D.E.C. from the CEGEP de L'Outaouais. He received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1991. Egidio is an officer or on the Board of several organizations including being a Trustee of The Portuguese Canadian Education Foundation. Egidio was born in the Azores Islands (S. Jorge), Portugal. He immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1972 and became a Canadian citizen in 1978. He is married and has 2 children.
John is vice-president and a founding member of Casa Portuguesa. He is currently a Sergeant with the Ottawa Police Service. He joined the Ottawa Police Service in 1988; worked in various units within the Ottawa Police Service and was promoted in 2002. He is currently assigned to the Youth Section overseeing Street Gangs, The School Resource Officer Program, Missing Children and Intervention and Diverstion for youth. John graduated from Carleton University, BA in Law (1987). John has been involved in many non-profit community organizations including: LUSO-LAR, Portuguese Seniors Housing Committee; PCGA (Portuguese Canadian Golf Association); Beechwood Cemetery Portuguese Section; Board of Directors Senhor Santo Cristo Church; Club Captain at Greyhawk Golf Club . He has also volunteered as or for: Women's Hockey Coach; Prostitution Working Group; and, Kanata Knights Football Club. John is a strong believer and supporter of maintaining the Portuguese tradition and focuses many of his efforts on issues relating to the Portuguese community.
Lina is Secretary and a founding member
of Casa Portuguesa. She is currently a Special Projects Officer with
Social Development Canada. She joined the Federal Government in 1989;
since joining the public sector she has held various positions some
of which were Finance Officer and Computer Science Training Coordinator.
A Physical & Health Educator as well as Mathematics teacher with the Ottawa Carleton Catholic School Board for the past two years. Prior to that, Linda worked for the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board for two years. She completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa. She then continued on at the university to complete her Bachelor of Education.
